All parties in Lindsey, et al., a class action lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama related to the presence of certain PFAS present in water from the Tennessee River provided to customers of the West Morgan-East Lawrence Water and Sewer Authority, have reached an agreement to resolve ongoing litigation. The agreement, subject to court approval, resolves claims among the parties on behalf of Class Members without the need for further lengthy and expensive litigation and will help address concerns raised by Class Members regarding water supplied to rate payers and area homeowners.
Through the agreement, 3M and other parties will contribute a total of $12 million to resolve the plaintiffs' claims on behalf of themselves and the Class Members. 3M's contribution to the total amount is reflected in the company's previously disclosed financial reserves for litigation contingent liabilities.
This agreement builds upon previous actions to treat drinking water supplied by West Morgan-East Lawrence Water and Sewer Authority and improve the quality of drinking water supplied to the community.
